The Special Task Force’s (STF) Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested two women Preeti Suri (45) and Anita (52) from Nehru Colony area in Dehradun with 158 grammes of smack worth about Rs 50 lakh. During its operation, the STF also conducted a joint search of Anita’s home along with the team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and recovered Rs 4.57 lakh in cash, believed to be profits from local drug sales. The senior superintendent of police of STF Navneet Singh said that Suri was arrested in front of Prasar Bharati Doordarshan Bhawan late on Thursday with 158 grammes of smack. She told the ANTF that she lives in the Deepnagar area and had bought the contraband from Bilaspur and Rampur in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. She claimed that her landlady Anita in Deepnagar works as a local smack seller and she sends her to various places like in UP to get smack, in return for which she does not have to pay house rent. The SSP said that NCB team was called to question Suri after which, the team also conducted a joint search of her landlady’s house where they recovered Rs 5.57 lakh cash. When she was questioned about the recovered money, she said that she supplies the smack by packing it in small packets locally and the amount recovered from her was earned by selling smack. Singh said that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken in the matter accordingly. He also appealed to the public to contact STF at 0135-2656202 or 9412029536 if they find anybody involved in drug smuggling across the State.
