Says better financial management needed in view of limited resources of the state
The Finance minister of Uttarakhand Prem Chand Agarwal has stressed the need for better financial management in view of the limited resources of the state. He said that Uttarakhand is a small state with limited financial resources. Agarwal made these observations during his meeting with the senior officers of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) at his Vidhan Sabha office on Wednesday.
The deputy CAG Sandhya Shukla explained the activities and the works associated with audit inspection to the minister as the team leader. Elaborate discussions on financial and fiscal discipline and management were held in the meeting. The Finance minister was informed that Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) of Uttarakhand is working in a better manner in comparison with other states. The state is effectively implementing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) by IFMS.
The minister said that austerity measures would be adopted in Uttarakhand in view of the limited financial resources of the state. He said that emphasis on better coordination would be laid on improving the financial condition of the state. Appreciating the suggestions given by the officers of CAG, the Finance minister said that efforts to implement their suggestions would be made.
The finance secretary Surendra Pandey, accounts director Ahmed Iqbal, principal accountant general of Uttarakhand Pravindra Yadav and other officers were present in the meeting.
