The district secretary-in-charge and finance secretary V Shanmugam, while reviewing the progress of development works, Char Dham Yatra arrangements and pre-monsoon disaster management preparations at a review meeting, directed the officials concerned to ensure that the disaster management system work with full readiness and provide immediate assistance to the affected people in any emergency situation.
During the meeting, while reviewing pre-monsoon preparations, he inquired from the officials from the National Highways, BRO, Public Works Department and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana about the availability of machinery to maintain smooth roads in the landslide-prone areas. He also reviewed three months’ advance ration storage, early weather warning system and the condition and operational arrangements of the district’s helipads.
While reviewing the progress of the state-sponsored, centrally funded projects, district plan, NABARD-funded and externally aided schemes, he directed various departments, including Irrigation, Education, Health, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Horticulture, Public Works Department and Tourism, to complete all works strictly according to the timeline, while maintaining the required quality.
During the department-wise review, he inquired about the progress of the schemes of the Jal Sansthan, Pey Jal Nigam and others. He also gave instructions to give further impetus to the 100-day TB campaign of the Health department and to prepare a list of pregnant women in view of the upcoming monsoon.
While inquiring about the condition of Anganwadi centres under the Women and Child Development department, he stressed on the 100 per cent use of the e-office system and called it an important part of good governance.
The district magistrate Prashant Arya, while reviewing the 25-point programme, expressed displeasure over the laxity in the operation of the e-office system and directed all departments to fully implement it by June 30.
In the meeting, the chief development officer, Jai Bharat Singh informed about the progress of Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission, Self Help Groups and National Rural Livelihood Mission.
