FIR lodged, police deployed after unknown men damage Phoolchatti bridge

After registering an FIR, the police have posted guards following damage caused by some people to the motor bridge at Phoolchatti on the Yamunotri route in Uttarkashi district. The district magistrate Meharban Singh Bisht has directed that strict action should be taken against those who have caused damage to the bridge.
According to officials, some unidentified persons had caused damage to the deck slab on this bridge located between Phoolchatti and Janakichatti. On being informed about the incident, the DM ordered immediate steps to repair and secure the bridge. Public Works Department Badkot division executive engineer Manohar Singh informed that an FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons in the Badkot police station. The damaged deck slab of the bridge is being repaired. The repair work is expected to be completed soon. At present, the damage and the repair work is not causing any issues for the movement of the traffic, he added.
The Badkot police station in-charge Santosh Kunwar informed that an FIR has been lodged under section 427 of the Indian Penal Code in this matter. The matter is being investigated. Meanwhile, police personnel have been posted to guard the bridge and prevent any mischief, he said.
Meanwhile, the DM stressed that destructive and anarchist elements who cause such damage to a bridge will not be spared of legal consequences. This bridge is important for the locals and pilgrims and those who caused damage to it will face strict legal action, Bisht said.
