In latest news from Uttarakhand, fire broke out in a tunnel being built the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line. As per information received, the chemicals kept in the under-construction tunnel caught fire. Forty four workers were in the tunnel when the fire broke out. Upon receiving information, SDRF and police teams rushed to the site, put out the fire and helped all the workers come out safely. Sharing details about the incident, an SDRF officer said that the fire had broken out at around 7.30 pm at T-15 tunnel at Nagrasu. He added that as it was proving difficult for them to put out the flames the local police was roped in. The district disaster management officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that they were yet to ascertain how the chemicals kept in the tunnel had caught fire.
