First fortnight of Char Dham Yatra will be a challenge: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the first 15 days of Char Dham Yatra will be challenging for the State. He stressed on the need for least movement of VIPs during the first fortnight of the Yatra. The CM reviewed the preparation of the Char Dham Yatra on Saturday. He said that the Yatra is both a challenge and an examination for the State. The CM directed the director general of police to ensure that the security personnel deployed in the Yatra behave in a friendly manner with the pilgrims and come forward to help them. He said that the pilgrims visiting the State should go home with a positive message.
The CM said that all kinds of information should be promptly and properly shared so that the pilgrims do not face any problem during the Yatra. He directed the DMs that special emphasis on maintaining sanitation during the Yatra should be made.
The CM directed that a sufficient number of doctors and para-medical staff should be deployed in the Yatra on rotation basis. On a stern note the CM said that maximum complaints about Heli services are received.
The chief secretary Radha Raturi told the CM that Rudraprayag DM has deployed additional sanitation workers on the Yatra route.
The DGP Abhinav Kumar said that the deputy inspector general (Law and Order) has been given the responsibility of traffic management. Superintendent of police (Rural) of Dehradun has been appointed as nodal officer traffic in view of the traffic jams in Lakshmanjhula, Muni ki Reti and Shivpuri areas. The Additional SP, Kotdwar and CO, Narendranagar will assist him.
In the meeting the CM directed the officers of the Public Works Department (PWD) to ensure that all the roads are in the best shape before the commencement of Char Dham Yatra on May 10. The secretary of PWD, Pankaj Pandey said that all the officers are undertaking regular field visits to check the condition of roads.
