A Fit India Freedom Run was organised jointly by the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Youth Welfare department and Jan Shikshan Sansthan here on Saturday. The local MLA Chandan Ram Das, District Panchayat president Basanti Devi and the district magistrate Vineet Kumar jointly flagged off the run along with chief development officer DD Pant.
Speaking at the event organised as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the MLA said that such events are good for also recalling the struggles of the freedom movement. Basanti Devi said that such events encourage the youths to indulge in healthful activity while also motivating them towards nation building. The DM said that various events were being organised by different departments this year as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The run passed through Numaishkhet via Sarayu bridge, Tehsil Road, Vikas Bhawan and concluded at Punaru Numaishkhet ground. District youth welfare officer Arjun Singh Rawat, municipality executive officer Rajdev Jayasi, NSS district programme officer Rajiv Nigam and others were present on the occasion.
