The Fit Uttarakhand campaign on the Fit Uttarakhand mobile app was formally launched by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the start of the three-day Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav here on Thursday. Organised by the Youth Welfare and PRD department, the festival is being held to mark the 25th Foundation Day of Uttarakhand.
Addressing the gathering, Dhami said, “Tomorrow marks 150 years of Vande Mataram and it is a proud moment for all of us to raise the slogan of Vande Mataram together. The youth of Uttarakhand is its greatest strength, capable of taking us to new heights not only in India but globally. This three-day Mahotsav is not just a platform to showcase sports and cultural talent, but also a medium to connect our younger generation to their roots and traditions. This year’s event is being organised in alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat Young Leaders. Initiatives such as Startup India, Skill India, Make in India, Fit India and the New Education Policy are opening new avenues of growth and self-employment for our youth. Uttarakhand today stands among the leading States in providing employment opportunities to the youth, and has secured the first position in the NITI Aayog’s index.”
Youth Welfare and Sports minister Rekha Arya stated, “As Uttarakhand completes 25 years, the Yuva Mahotsav is an integral part of the celebrations. We are a young State, and our thinking is young,” she said.
Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal spoke about the State’s development and its performance in the 38th National Games.
Youth Welfare and PRD special principal secretary Amit Kumar Sinha said, “This year’s festival is being held under the theme of Viksit Bharat – Young Leaders, and it is inspiring to see more than 600 participants from 13 districts come together. Various cultural and creative activities including folk songs, dance, speeches, painting and more will be taking place throughout the event.”
