Five arrested for public brawl and raising ruckus in Dehradun

The police arrested five young men involved in a public brawl and creating a disturbance at a local cafe in Clement Town area of Dehradun late on Tuesday. Out of these five accused, four are college students, the officials said. They informed that the police received information that five young men were engaged in a heated altercation, using abusive language and causing chaos reportedly under the influence of alcohol. A team from the Clement Town police station reached the spot to take cognisance of the issue. The officials said that upon arrival, the police attempted to bring the situation under control by reasoning with the involved parties.
However, the five men became increasingly aggressive, escalating the disorder. Given the potential threat to public order, the police arrested all five individuals under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act, the officials said. The police have identified the arrested accused as Harshit Sharma (21), a resident of Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, Hansraj (22), a resident of Clement Town, Pankaj Singh (23) a resident of Lohaghat, Champawat, Harsh Kumar (23), a resident of Begumpur, Bihar and Vineet (24), a resident of Jhula Ghat, Pithoragarh. Except Vineet, the remaining four accused are students, the officials said.
