Five dead in three separate road accidents

At least five persons died in three separate road accidents in the State on Friday. Two persons each died in accidents reported in Joshimath and Nainital while one person died in a mishap in Dehradun.
Two youths left for Joshimath from Dehradun on February 22 on a leisure trip. According to the police, the duo fell into a deep gorge along with their motorcycle near Selang village on the way to Joshimath. After their family members lodged a report in the Chamoli police station about them missing, the police traced their mobile phone location and reached the gorge from where their bodies were recovered on Friday. The Joshimath police sub inspector Sanjay Negi informed that the deceased have been identified as Dhiraj Dhami (22) from Bageshwar and Ritik Rana (24) from Uttarkashi.
In Nainital, two persons on a motorcycle died when the vehicle fell about 50 feet down the mountainside near Khupi on the Haldwani-Bhawali highway on Friday evening. The locals informed the police about the accident and the two men were rescued and taken to the Bhawali community health centre where the doctors declared them dead. The deceased have been identified as Almora residents Rajendra Singh Rawal and Pushkar Singh. They were riding towards Haldwani when the accident occurred.
In the third mishap, a Vikram being driven from Raiwala to Doiwala was hit by a car from behind near Lal Tappad Nature Villa. The Vikram overturned due to the collision with the driver, Doiwala resident Pravesh sustaining serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.
