Five terrorists are reported to have been killed in an encounter with the security forces near the LOC in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is learnt that the joint team comprising the army and Jammu-Kashmir police personnel gunned down the terrorists. Acting on tip-off, the joint team was conducting combing operation when the terrorists opened fire on them. In retaliatory firing, the joint team shot dead five terrorists. Notably, the Indian army had thwarted an infiltration attempt from across the border in Poonch district of the Union Territory and seized a large cache of ammunition and weapons. The officers concerned informed that the recovery had been made from Krishna Ghati sector and the items recovered included steel core cartridges and medicines manufactured in Pakistan.
