Five trekkers found dead, four still missing

The authorities have found dead bodies of five out of eight trekkers who went missing while trekking from Harshil in Uttarkashi to Chitkul in Himachal Pradesh (HP) on Thursday. Two trekkers have also been recovered alive from the heavily snowed area but the condition of one of the trekkers was reported to be critical. The sources informed that Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) along with the army personnel and the Kinnaur police started the rescue operation on Wednesday after the Uttarakhand government informed the HP government about the disappearance of 11 missing people on the route to the Lamkhaga Pass in HP. The pass is located at an altitude of about 20,000 feet above sea level where the authorities are still searching for the four remaining missing people.
