Fleet of 108 ambulances remained busy during Deepawali

The fleet of the 108 emergency ambulances in the state was constantly on the move to respond to the emergency calls during the festival of lights, Deepawali.
The data released by the ambulance service suggests that it provided help in 1292 cases during the three days from Dhanteras to Deepawali this year.
It is worth mentioning here that the emergencies related to medical, fire and accidents increase appreciably during the festival of Deepawali and the service was all geared up to meet emergencies on the day.
With 333 cases, Dehradun district had the maximum number of emergencies during the festival of lights from October 22 to 24. Haridwar had 200 while Udham Singh Nagar 192 cases respectively on the day. In Nainital district 97 emergency calls were received. Apart from 18 fire related emergencies the service also received 144 cases associated with road accidents and 49 cardiac cases.
In Dehradun district alone 46 cases of road accidents were reported. The ambulance service also served 399 pregnancy cases on the three days from October 22 to 24. On Tuesday, the state head of 108 service, Anil Sharma reviewed the services provided by the ambulance service during the Deepawali festival in a video conferencing session.
He said that it is a matter of great pride that the personnel of the ambulance service worked with full commitment on the day when people celebrate the festival with their family members.
Sharma added that arrangements were made to ensure that the ambulances don’t get stuck up in the traffic during the festival. He informed that additional technical staff was deployed during the festival to ensure fast response and smooth operation.
