Flood relief operations joint exercise held at BEG & Centre

Bengal Engineer Group and Centre (BEG & Centre), Roorkee, stepped up its preparedness for any eventualities resulting from heavy rains envisaged in the region. With all major stakeholders involved, the BEG and Centre in coordination with the District Disaster Management Office (DDMO), Haridwar, conducted a joint exercise on flood relief  and rescue operations at its wet bridging training area, along the upper Ganga canal on Friday.

Officials said that the exercise witnessed the participation of 110 personnel from DDMO, Haridwar, 40 PAC Battalion, SDRF Uttarakhand, Military Hospital, Roorkee and BEG and Centre. The exercise was aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness, validating flood response procedures and strengthening inter-agency coordination under the framework of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.

The conduct of the joint exercise reaffirmed the commitment of all participating agencies towards strengthening disaster preparedness, enhancing interoperability and fostering effective civil-military cooperation, to ensure a swift and coordinated response during natural disasters.
