Focus on increasing voter turnout in Lok Sabha polls: CEO Purushottam

The chief electoral officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand BVRC Purushottam has directed that a special campaign should be undertaken in the State for increasing the voter turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Presiding over a meeting held to review the efforts for increasing voter turnout the CEO said that a targeted approach should be taken for increasing voting percentage. He said that booth level awareness groups work actively in this mission. Purushottam said that the booth level strategy should be created and special emphasis should be done on the booths where voting percentage was low in the last election. He said that analysis of low voter turnout in such booths should be done and a special drive should be undertaken for increasing voter turnout.
The CEO said that the voters who are above 80 years of age and Divyang voters should be informed about the facilities provided to them. He said that the monitoring of the entire campaign should be done and a daily calendar of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities should be prepared. He said that the theme of this year’s National Voters Day was ‘nothing like voting, I vote for sure’ and its message should reach every voter. The additional CEO VK Jogdande and other officers were present in the meeting.
