The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of dense fog conditions likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Sunday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the State today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with shallow to moderate fog likely to occur during the early morning/morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 20 degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the State meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that compared to past years, the rain and snowfall during the post monsoon season/winter has been less this season. This has delayed the sowing of wheat and some other crops. With the rain and snowfall being less than normal, issues are also being faced by those involved in horticulture. He said that foggy conditions are likely to prevail in the plains, especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts for the next two to three days. Cold day conditions are also likely in these districts. The weather is likely to remain dry in the State though light rainfall is likely in some of the mountainous districts on January 17, he added.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 20.3 degrees Celsius and 6.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 17.7 degrees Celsius and 8.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17.8 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 16.6 degrees Celsius and 7.9 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
