Forest dept conducting controlled burning to stop forest fire

In latest news from Uttarakhand, as the season of forest fire is approaching with the waning of winter, the Nainital district forest department is gearing up to control the blaze. Considering the forest along the Nainital-Haldwani road as sensitive, the department is now conducting controlled burning while clearing and burning the dry leaves and bushes on the roadside near Takula in Manora forest range under Nainital forest division.
Officially, the forest fire season starts here from February 15. At the same time, the department is conducting public awareness campaign to motivate the people into saving the precious green assets. Besides, the local women are being roped in. They are now engaged in burning the dry leaves on the roadside to prevent any big fire. A senior forest officer Mukul Sharma said that controlled burning would be done till February 15 as a preventive measure.
