Taking a dig at the state government for the lax attitude shown by it in controlling forest fires at present raging in Uttarakhand noted activist and founder of Social Development for Communities (SDC) foundation, Anoop Nautiyal has said that the helicopters that were used to shower petals in Kumbh can also be used to douse forest fires in the state.
“We are losing precious natural resources and lives. One should naturally expect a sense of urgency and massive action on ground,’’ he wrote on social media. Nautiyal also said that top five Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers should come together to give a detailed explanation on what is going on and what they are going to do on forest fires. “This is a major catastrophe shrouded in silence by the officials,’’ he opined.
