In latest news from Dehradun, immediately on his return to Doon, the State forest minister Subodh Uniyal convened an important meeting of the forest fire control committee. During the meeting attended by senior officers, a number of decisions were taken like firming up a long-term strategy to effectively take on the blaze. Among the officers present were the principal secretary, forest R K Sudhanshu, principal chief conservator of forests and head of forest force Dhananjay Mohan and chief wildlife warden Samir Sinha.
The minister was informed that efforts are being made to douse the wildfires at the field level and things have been improving over the past three days. The minister reiterated the State government’s resolve to involve the locals, village bodies and women and youth Mangal Dals in combating forest blaze.
