Former AAP contestant Basant Kumar Cong candidate for Bageshwar by- poll

In latest Uttarakhand news, as per speculation running rife, the Opposition Congress announced the name of the former AAP leader Basant Kumar as the party’s candidate for the Bageshwar Assembly by-poll slated on September 5. Interestingly, anticipating the party brass’s decision to rope in and field Kumar as the candidate who unsuccessfully contested from the Bageshwar Assembly constituency first as BSP candidate in 2017 election and then as AAP candidate in 2022 election, the Congress leader who contested the seat in 2022 election Ranit Das switched to the saffron party. The State party president Karan Mahara and the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Yashpal Arya announced the name of the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-poll while addressing the media persons. They exuded confidence that Basant Kumar would win the by-poll hands down.
