Former cabinet minister Dinesh Dhanai joined the Bharatiya Janata Party along with his supporters here on Monday. A considerable number of members from various parties joined the BJP in the presence of the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt at the BJP state office.

Speaking after joining the party, Dhanai said that the work done by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has impressed him, which is why he and his supporters are joining the party. Uttarakhand is progressing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and Dhami’s leadership, he said, while adding that he is joining the BJP to fulfill his aim of making Tehri the State’s leading district.

Considering the number of people joining the BJP on Monday, the party had to hold the formal programme in three sessions. Addressing the gathering, Bhatt assured that as the State head of the party he will ensure that they are accorded due respect. He said that the State is witnessing all round development under the leadership of Modi and Dhami. The people are certain that in the next five years India will develop into the third most powerful economy in the world. The policies being implemented and the conditions show that the third decade of this century will belong to Uttarakhand. This is the reason why a large number of leaders and workers from various parties are lining up to join the BJP, he said.

Bhatt said, “The Congress and others in the opposition lack an ideology and are without issues and leadership. This is why the number of those wanting to join the BJP is consistently rising. We are confident that under Modi’s leadership, the BJP will win with a record margin for the third consecutive time from all the five Lok Sabha seats in the State.”
