In latest Uttarakhand news, the former Roorkee mayor Gaurav Goel has been given a clean chit by the State administration following an investigation into several allegations levelled against him. The embattled mayor had quit from his post and tendered his resignation to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on July 28 to ensure an impartial probe into the charges.
Notably, after being denied BJP ticket, the rebel leader had contested the mayoral election 2019 as Independent and emerged victorious. Later, he had been reinstated in the party in 2020. However, he had got embroiled in raging controversies on multiple issues, including his alleged demand for bribe and dispute with councillors. He had been forced him to quit. He had also been expelled from the BJP again.
Now, the administration has dismissed all the charges levelled against him, terming theses as baseless and parts of a political conspiracy hatched against him.
