Fortified salt to be available at fair price shops- Arya

The Food and Civil Supplies Department minister Rekha Arya said that the government will soon provide fortified salt and other necessary food supplies to beneficiaries in fair price shops under the public distribution system (PDS). Besides this, she has also directed the officials of the department to make a proposal to provide three LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries of Antyodaya Yojana in fair price shops. Arya conducted a review meeting of various programmes running under the department on Thursday. She discussed the progress of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana and those being run at the state level for thousands of beneficiaries. She also instructed the officials to resolve the issues of ration card holders as well the distributors at the fair price shops. She also asked the officials to ensure that all fair price shops get the entire required ration supply on time every month so that the beneficiaries get it on time too.
Arya also informed that the department will soon start providing fortified salt at fair price shops across the state that will help to fight iron and iodine deficiencies among malnourished women and children. She also asked the officials to make proposals of effective public welfare schemes for people living below the poverty line. She has also directed the officials of the department to make a proposal to provide three LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries of Antyodaya Yojana in fair price shops which will be presented in the upcoming cabinet meeting. Arya also warned of taking strict action against those who will be found to be behaving rudely with the public. She also said that the department will not tolerate the behaviour of the officials arriving at the offices and negligence in the work. The secretary of the department Bhupal Singh Manral, additional commissioner PS Pangtey and joint commissioner Mahendra Singh were also present among other officials.
