The State foundation day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the summer capital Gairsain on Sunday. Various cultural performances and other activities were held outside the Vidhan Sabha building at Bharadisain in Gairsain to mark the occasion. District Panchayat head Daulat Singh Bisht formally inaugurated the event after which a parade was held and cultural programmes were presented. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Bisht said that Uttarakhand is moving forward on the developmental path during the silver jubilee year of the State’s foundation. The road network, education, health and communication facilities have been expanded in the State since its formation. Further, work is also underway to strengthen connectivity with other states with the building of a rail network in the mountainous areas of the State. Bisht stressed on the importance of collective efforts to ensure the all round development of the State. Chamoli district magistrate Gaurav Kumar and others also visited the various stalls set up by the Agriculture, Horticulture, Industry, Rural Development, Police and self help groups on the occasion.
