The Dehradun police have arrested three men involved in the planning of a sensational robbery at the State minister Premchand Aggarwal’s cousin’s home in Doiwala on Saturday. However, the police have arrested only one robber while five others involved in the high profile robbery committed in broad daylight are still absconding. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar said in a Press conference on Wednesday that six men entered the house of the complainant Shishpal Aggarwal’s house on October 15 at noon and kept his wife and two maids as hostages in a room and looted the cash and jewellery. The SSP said that a forensic team, dog squad and a team of special operations group (SOG) were called on the spot to collect all possible evidence from the scene. It was clear in the preliminary investigation that the robbery was planned or executed with the help of somebody who was familiar with the house. The police team analysed all digital evidence including CCTV footage. The police also started gathering information about people who had worked in the complainant’s house. It was revealed during the investigation that a contractor from Doiwala named Mehboob (45) who had worked as a carpenter in the complainant’s house two years ago was missing from his home. He was finally nabbed on the informer’s tip from Muzaffarnagar on Tuesday when he along with his two accomplices was going to meet a lawyer. The SSP said that Mehboob, who is a native of Uttar Pradesh, has confessed to his involvement in the robbery. He revealed during the questioning that he had observed Aggarwal’s wealth when he worked in his house and knew about their daily schedule at home. He started gathering more information about family members and finally approached five robbers from Muzaffarnagar to rob the house. The police arrested one of the robbers Tehseem from near Delhi-Baghpat highway at 1:35 AM on Wednesday. The police have recovered Rs 3.03 lakh cash, a pistol, two live cartridges and a sports car from the accused. The SSP said that the police will soon nab the absconded robbers and might also announce a bounty on their heads within one week. The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar and the DIG of Garhwal Range Karan Nagnyal have also announced to reward the police team with Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively.
