Four-day foundation day event concludes at ARIES

The Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) concluded its four-day foundation day programme on Saturday with Padma Shri Dr JS Titiyal who retired recently from AIIMS, Delhi as the chief guest and Kumaun University vice chancellor Diwan Singh Rawat as the special guest.

Titiyal said that mobile phones have brought convenience but its unrestricted use is detrimental to the eyes. Stating that children should be kept away from mobile phones, he said that students should use them only for gaining knowledge. He also spoke in detail about various eye ailments and their treatment. Rawat said that though facilities have increased, the challenges facing the youths have also increased. The youths will have to prepare elaborately to progress.

\ARIES director Manish Naja spoke about the research work at the institute and global level facilities acquired by it. Other experts spoke on subjects including the types of stars and elaborated on various aspects of space and astronomy.
