Four dead, two injured in car mishap in Bageshwar

Victims were returning from religious ceremony in village when accident took place
Four persons died on the spot and two were seriously injured after the car they were travelling in fell into a gorge along the Kanauli-Shama Road in Bageshwar district on Thursday evening. Four persons including three women died on the spot while a child and a woman sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
According to the information provided by sources, the car was being driven from Kanauli to Shama at about 5 PM on Thursday. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Ramadi due to which the car fell into a gorge. The car owner and driver Darban Singh (60), Lali Devi (55), Gopuli Devi (62) and Manuli Devi (52) died on the spot while Pushpa Devi (35) and Jyoti (4) sustained serious injuries in the accident. The locals reached the site as soon as they learnt about the mishap. Four persons had already died on the spot while the two injured persons were sent by ambulance to the community health centre at Kapkot.
On getting information about the accident, the police team headed by Kapkot police station officer Pratap Singh Nagarkoti also left for the accident site. It is being said that the family of the deceased Darban Singh had come to their village Hyundungra from Bindukhatta a week ago to attend a religious ceremony. He was returning to Shama with his family members when the accident took place.
