According to official sources, at about 1:15 AM on Tuesday, a truck malfunctioned at about 12 AM on Tuesday. The driver kept the truck on the highway near Mistri Line at Lalkuan while placing branches on the sides of the truck. A car being driven from Nagla towards Lakuan rammed into the truck reportedly due to light fog and the unexpected position of the truck. The duo in the truck got stuck in the wreckage. The police and locals strived for some time to extricate the duo. They were sent to the hospital in Haldwani where Pankaj Sharma (45) of Ghaziabad was declared dead while his accomplice Buddhi Lal Singh (40) died during treatment.
