Saharanpur resident accused were looking to carry out another crime
Four men accused of robbing a mini-bank operator were arrested by the police. The Bahadarabad police arrested the four men belonging to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh along with part of the looted money, two motorbikes used in the robbery, country-made pistols and live cartridges from their possession. Informing the media about the case, superintendent of police (City) Swatantra Kumar Singh said that mini bank operator Vinod Kumar Chauhan was stopped by the accused on the canal track while returning home on the night of October 15. The accused then robbed Rs 1,22,530 from Chauhan.
The accused who were riding two motorcycles, had managed to escape with a bag full of cash. On the complaint of the mini bank operator, the police had registered a case of robbery. The SP (City) informed that the police formed teams of Bahadarabad police and CIU to solve the case. The teams checked the CCTV footage from about 400 cameras in and around the scene of the crime which helped the police in finding some important clues. He said that the police were conducting checking on the canal track on Thursday night when the accused on motorcycles attempted to get away. The police team chased them and managed to apprehend the accused. The accused have been identified as Akshay Pandit, Ankit Kumar, Monu Kumar and Suraj who are all residents of Saharanpur. They were coming to Haridwar again to carry out some incident when they were caught by the police. Two motorcycles, two firearms and Rs 44,200 cash were recovered from the men. Criminal cases are already going on against the accused, added the SP.
