Four nabbed for holding two women hostages to rob Rs 1,100 and mobile phones

The police arrested four men including three notorious criminals of a Delhi-based gang who robbed the house of a man in the Dalanwala area of Dehradun by holding his wife and mother hostage at gunpoint on May 24. The robbers hatched the plan to rob the victim’s house in Tihar jail with the help of the victim’s former employee. However, the robbers could only find Rs 1,100 in cash and two mobile phones in the house, the Dehrdaun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. He said that the victim Sagar Som is involved in the construction business and belongs to a wealthy family. A former employee of the victim allegedly approached the robbers and informed them about the man and his family and how much money and valuable items they could find there. The SSP informed that the main leader and mastermind of the gang is the vicious criminal Rajesh Bansal alias Madan, who is accused in two murder cases, robberies worth crores of rupees and other serious crimes. Other robbers are also allegedly involved in serious crimes in Delhi and nearby areas. Bansal had allegedly planned the robbery while being imprisoned in Tihar jail with other gang members in December. They had come to Dehradun to conduct recce of the house in January and planned to rob in April but failed to properly execute it. They finally executed their plan on May 24 in which the complainant’s servants were also allegedly involved. However, they only found Rs 1,100 in cash and two mobile phones in the house. The SSP said that robbers often return to rob the place again if they fail to loot as per their plan considering which, the police started the investigation to nab them. The police arrested the four accused identified as Rinku Kumar (40), Mohit Kumar (28) and Sanjeev Kumar (33) besides Bansal late on Monday. The three accused- Sagar Som, Prem Thapa and his unknown friend are still absconding.
