Four people die in firecracker factory blast in Roorkee

Four people including two minors died following an explosion at a firecracker factory in Roorkee on Monday. In addition to the fatalties, three persons sustained serious burn injuries in the explosion, as per the police. The police said that the factory was allegedly being operated illegally and they are yet to ascertain the reason for the explosion.
According to official sources, the police have identified two minors who lost their lives in the explosion as Adnan (15) and Armaan (16). Three injured people who have been identified as Neeraj, Suraj and Ayush are getting treatment in the hospital but their condition was quite critical till late on Monday evening as per the police. The police stated that as per the statement of local people, Adnam, Armaan, Suraj and Neeraj were working inside the factory on Monday morning while keeping its shutter closed.
The people nearby the factory suddenly heard the loud noise of an explosion and noticed huge flames coming out of the factory. The flames were so intense that some nearby shops also caught fire, said the police. The Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the police are investigating the matter and awaiting certain reports including forensic and post mortem reports to ascertain the reason behind the explosion. He said that police will take action against the offenders as per the law.
