Rains and landslides have continued to cause destruction in various parts of the State with four labourers being the latest fatalities. According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) four Nepali labourers died after they got buried under debris following a landslide in the Fata area of Rudraprayag district. Rudraprayag district officials informed that information was received at 1.37 AM on Friday about four people being buried under the debris following a landslide near the Fata helipad.

The SDRF team left for the site of the disaster on receiving information. The team had to walk about two kilometres to reach the site. The rescue team could not take a mechanical excavator to the site of the incident as heavy rainfall made the road inaccessible for heavy vehicles.

The SDRF personnel undertook the rescue operation manually digging the debris. They were able to extract four bodies from the debris and handed them over to the district police.

The deceased have been identified as Tul Bahadur, Purna Nepali, Kishna Parihar and Chiku Bura — all residents of Nepal.
