Chief secretary SS Sandhu has directed all district magistrates of the State to remove encroachments from government land. He presided over a video conferencing session with the DMs of the State on Monday. In the meeting the CS said that the demarcation of the government land should be done to prevent encroachment.
He directed that a team should be constituted for demarcation of government land and correcting the revenue records. The CS directed that demarcation of government land where there is no encroachment should be done soon and the encroached land should be freed. He said that responsibility of the officers should be fixed to ensure that the land is not encroached upon.
In view of recent complaints regarding land frauds, the CS said that records of the last 60 to 80 years should be checked. He said that a portal of land records will soon be ready and all the information regarding land will be uploaded on it. He said that digital maps of the land should be prepared.
The CS took information about the problem faced by the DM in demarcation of government land and sought suggestions for solving the problem.
