Tula’s Institute, started in 2006, has now become Tulas University. This change has been approved under the Uttarakhand Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2026. It is a big moment for the institution and for higher education in Uttarakhand.
In these 20 years, Tulas has grown step by step, with focus on good teaching, research and industry linked learning. Its mission has always been simple, to give students a strong undergraduate and postgraduate education that prepares them for real careers, not just degrees on paper. As a university, it now offers courses in Engineering, Agriculture, Computer Applications, Business Administration, Journalism & Mass Communication, Pharmacy and Law, at both UG and PG level. With university status, Tulas will also introduce new programmes in the coming years, building further on these existing strengths. The campus, spread across 22 green acres in Doon Valley, continues to support all-round growth for its students.
The founder and president, Tulas University, Sunil Kumar Jain shared his thoughts on this journey. “When we started as Tulas Institute in 2006, our goal was simple: give students an honest, genuine education that prepares them for life, not just for exams. Today, becoming a university is proof that this goal has grown into something bigger. Our NAAC A+ rating and NBA accredited programmes show that we never compromised on quality. Facilities like our AICTE funded Idea Lab, the Cyber Physical System Lab with iHub-IIT Ropar, our Technology Resource Centre funded by UCOST, and the Tulas Technology Business Incubator, all came from one belief that a good institution must also build the future, not just teach about it. In these 20 years, we have seen our students grow into confident professionals, and that is what keeps us going. This university status is not an end point. It is a responsibility to keep doing more for our students and for the country.”
The co-founder and senior vice-president, Tulas University, Raunak Jain spoke about what matters to him most, the students, and who they become. “Degrees matter, but character matters more. At Tulas, we want to build students who are sincere, confident and prepared to face real problems, not just exam papers. That is why our focus stays on hands on training, live projects and skill building alongside the syllabus. Today, AI skills are part of every course we teach, not just the technical ones, because the world our students will work in demands that. Our students have also proved themselves outside the classroom. Our team won 2nd place at Startup Mahakumbh 2025, and their innovation was recognised and awarded by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary at the grand finale, competing against startups from across India. As a university now, we get more freedom to design programmes that build both skill and character together. We are also working closely with institutes like IITs and IIMs to give students exposure beyond our own classrooms. Our aim is simple, every student who leaves Tulas should be capable, grounded and prepared for the world.”
The director general, Tulas Group, Silky Jain Marwah has been one of the quiet pillars behind this growth. “I have watched Tulas grow from a small institute to a university and through all these 20 years, one thing never changed for me, every student who walks through our gates is someone’s dream, and it is our job to guide that dream properly. My focus has always been on the human side of education, building strong industry connections so students step out with real opportunities and standing beside them when they are unsure of their path after school or college. For parents, I want to say this clearly, your child is safe here and they are seen here not just as a roll number but as someone we are personally responsible for. Becoming a university does not change this responsibility, it only gives us a bigger platform to fulfil it. I am proud to see Tulas reach this stage and I look forward to helping shape a place where students find not just a degree, but direction.”
Over these 20 years, Tulas has also earned strong recognition. The Week 2026 ranked it the No 1 Private Engineering College in Dehradun. India Today 2026 placed it among the Top 40 Emerging Private Engineering Colleges in India. The institution also holds NAAC A+ accreditation and NBA accredited programs, along with a strong placement record across IT, banking, healthcare and media sectors.
As Tulas University begins this new chapter, its promise remains the same one it started with in 2006, honest education, real skills and students who are ready for the world.
