Keeping crucial data protected from malicious actors has always been important. However, there is a need for urgency within businesses and decision-makers in the AI age. AI has the capability to manufacture more sophisticated ransomware, malware and deepfake attacks. Common threats include data poisoning, ransomware, privacy breaches and social engineering.

Stating this, the director of Sales and general manager of Data Protection and Unstructured Data Solutions at Dell Technologies India, Ripu Bajwa said that with the increased reliance of enterprises on tools designed to enhance data collection and analysis, the likelihood of sensitive information being exposed is on the rise. For a module like AI which uses sensitive data to train and fine-tune its systems, this is a cause of worry.

According to a report by Dell Technologies, 45 per cent of Indian businesses felt respondents cited a lack of adequate security and data protection solutions for generative AI. A future-ready cyber resiliency strategy is central to business success in the future of work. It is crucial to safeguard training data, models, configurations, and parameters by ensuring they are backed up on primary storage and can be transferred to a cyber recovery vault if needed.

Additionally, protecting modern workloads like Kubernetes volumes, Elastic Search, PostgreSQL and others is vital to maintaining data integrity and security. He said that the Dell Solution for AI Data Protection, a key part of the Dell AI Factory infrastructure portfolio, guarantees the security and recoverability of data-driving AI workloads. Organisations can take advantage of software and appliances, gaining the performance, efficiency, and scalability that have made Dell a leader in data protection.

Data Privacy Day reminds us to prioritise personal information protection in an AI-driven world, he added.
