Gadkari to lay foundation stone of Mussoorie tunnel in Jan 23

The Union surface transport minister Nitin Gadkari would lay the foundation stone of the ambitious tunnel project to link the popular tourist destination Mussoorie with Dehradun in the month of January next year. The Uttarakhand cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi extended the invitation to Gadkari during his Delhi visit on Wednesday which was accepted by the Union minister. The proposed three km long tunnel in Mussoorie is estimated to cost Rs 800 crore. In the meeting Joshi requested that the Dehradun- Kimadi road should be declared a National Highway.

 The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has taken over the construction of the tunnel project and its DPR has been approved. In the meeting the union minister directed the officers that he will lay the foundation stone of the tunnel in the month of January so they should make necessary preparations in this regard. On the request of Joshi on Dehradun- Kimadi motor road, the union minister directed the officials to examine the road under the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti scheme.
