Gandhi prevented from entering temple at Centre’s behest: Mahara

Reacting sharply to the denial of entry of former president of Congress party Rahul Gandhi in a temple in Assam on Monday the Uttarakhand Congress has alleged that the BJP government of Assam deliberately stopped Gandhi at the behest of the Central government.

He said that the attempt of the Assam government to prevent Gandhi from visiting the temple is an attack on the right of religious freedom granted in the constitution of India. He said that it was Rahul Gandhi who had the courage to visit Kedarnath on foot after the disaster of 2013.

Mahara said that the BJP is playing vote bank politics by taking refuge in the name of Ram and is also ignoring the suggestions given by Shankaracharyas. He said that Gandhi went to pay his obeisance in the temple in Assam as per his scheduled programme but was denied entry by the State administration.
