Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal has said that the resignation of Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan is the victory of the struggle of the students and youth. It is also a victory of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s resolve, he claimed.
Interacting with the media-persons at Congress headquarters on Saturday, the PCC president said that the union Education minister should have resigned earlier. He said that early resignation of Pradhan could have saved the lives of the students who had committed suicides after the NEET paper leak. Godiyal said a sensitive government is one which understands the public sentiments and takes immediate decisions. There are many instances in the past where the ministers had resigned on public demand but this government tried to safeguard the minister on whom the allegations of links with the paper leak mafia were levelled. Godiyal added that the resignation of Pradhan is also a victory of resolve of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
He alleged that the business of paper leaks is flourishing in Uttarakhand under the patronage of those in power. The PCC president said that the recent paper leak in the Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) proves that the mafia is still ruling the roost. He demanded that the Technical Education minister of Uttarakhand should resign for the paper leak in UTU. Godiyal said that the State government claims to enact stringent anti- copying law but the fact is that the cases were not registered under this law in the UTU paper leak case which clearly shows that effort is being made to protect the culprits in the case. He also demanded that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi should seek apology from the students for the police brutalities on them and the high-headedness shown by the administration in dealing with the students.
