Ganesh idols dot roadsides ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

With Ganesh Chaturthi to be celebrated on August 27, the streets in various parts of the city are dotted with idols of Bhagwan Ganesh for sale. A seller of these idols said that customers had pre-booked idols, with many opting for eco-friendly versions that do not harm the environment. The colourful and uniquely designed Ganesh idols have been a prominent feature in various parts of Dehradun including Bindal and Ballupur for some days now.
Vendor Ravi Kumar said that he sets up a small stall every year in preparation for the festival, showcasing idols of various sizes available for purchase. This year, he has also stocked a range of Ganesh idols. Over time, there has been an increasing demand for eco-friendly idols made of clay. Similarly, this year also, the trend of pre-booking environmentally friendly Ganesh idols has gained momentum.
Another seller of Ganesh idols, Manu Verma said that his shop offers a wide variety of Ganesh idols at different rates. He said that more customers are choosing eco-friendly options over low cost idols. Over time, people have become increasingly aware of the benefits of using eco-friendly Ganesh idols. He added that sales are expected to increase even more as the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi approaches within a couple of days.
Several other idol sellers also expressed their enthusiasm about the boost in sales. Local resident Mahindra Dev said that he visited a Ganesh idol stall with members of his society. Every year, they set up a Ganesh idol in their society hall to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi and make the occasion memorable.
