Gangotri national park to open for visitors on April 1

The Gangotri National Park in Uttarkashi district will be opened for tourists on April 1. For this, the national park administration has started its preparations and has started taking stock of the situation. The Gangotri national park was closed for tourists in the winter on November 30 last year. The national park is covered in snow in winter and with the onset of summer opens for the public. 

The national park is spread over an area of 1553 square kilometres.Various rare species of wild animals, flora, challenging treks and high Himalayan peaks are the center of attraction for tourists visiting this national park. Every year a considerable number of tourists are attracted to the Gangotri national park. The national park officials stated that on March 25-26, the Forest department’s team will carry out a reconnaissance of the entire national park area. After that it will be opened to tourists.

Along with this, the Gartang Gali will also be opened for tourists on April 1. This time a trip to Gartang Gali will be safer and thrilling. The department is going to put up railings on the mountain walkway. Funds have also been given to the Public Works Department for this purpose. Apart from this, toilets and other facilities will also be constructed for tourists here. 

Last year’  the Gangotri National park earned Rs 16 lakh as revenue from tourists of which 50 per cent was from Gartang Gali. The registration fee has been fixed at Rs 150 for domestic tourists and Rs 600 for foreign tourists. Registration can be done both off-line and on-line.
