Garhwal commissioner directs officials to remove encroachments from Govt lands

The Garhwal Commissioner Sushil Kumar directed the municipal corporations to take action against encroachment on government lands in their respective areas and take preventive measures to ensure that it does not happen again. He said this while presiding over a meeting of the land fraud coordination committee in Dehradun on Monday. The meeting was attended by Dehradun district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar and officials concerned of other districts under the Garhwal division. Kumar reviewed the reports on land-related matters under Tehsils of the districts. He directed the officials concerned to take action against the illegal land encroachments following the lawful procedure under relevant acts. He ordered the formation of a joint team under the chairmanship of additional district magistrates (ADMs) on certain cases and directed the officials concerned to settle the land-related matters within a week. He said that the revenue department’s duty is to maintain the security of the government land and it must ensure the same by taking action against illegal encroachments. The commissioner also directed the municipal corporations to remove the land encroachments in their respective areas and properly fence the area. He also directed the corporations to take action against the offenders under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act. The officials must also take police assistance in the required cases. He also directed sub-divisional magistrates to take action against encroachment on the forest department’s land in association with its officials concerned. He said that if authorities find involvement of any officer in such encroachments, strict action must be taken against them. The municipal commissioners of Dehradun and Rishikesh Abhishek Ruhela and Girish Chandra Gunwant respectively, MDDA secretary Mohan Singh Barnia, Dehradun ADM( Finance and Revenue) KK Mishra and other officials from various districts were also present in the meeting.
