Garhwal IG reviews Char Dham Yatra preparations and LUCC fraud cases

The Garhwal Range inspector general of police Rajeev Swaroop held a review meeting with police officers from various districts including Tehri, Pauri and Rudraprayag at the zonal office in Pauri. The meeting was focused on preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and the investigation into fraudulent activities related to LUCC cooperative societies and companies.
Swaroop emphasised coordination among district police units for traffic, parking, halting areas and route diversion planning. He instructed officers to ensure proper facilities such as water, lighting and toilets in halting areas. The force deployed for the pilgrimage will be briefed and assigned duties starting April 25. He directed to prepare a strong traffic plan to prevent congestion and hold meetings with taxi and bus union members to inform them about traffic rules and the route plan. The officials were also directed to install signboards highlighting blind turns and danger zones. He directed them to keep disaster response equipment ready and identify alternative routes in case of roadblocks.
The police will also give updates on route conditions, weather and crowd levels at the pilgrimage sites and share them regularly through social media. Regarding LUCC-related fraud cases, the IG directed officers to intensify investigations and take prompt action. He ordered the investigating officers to examine bank accounts linked to the fraud to ensure individuals found involved should face legal consequences. Officers were instructed to arrest remaining accused persons, examine their movable and immovable assets and initiate seizure proceedings. Family members who benefited from the fraud must be investigated too, he said.
The Pauri senior superintendent of police Lokeshwar Singh, Tehri additional superintendent of police Jodh Ram Joshi, additional superintendent of police (Communications) Anoop Kala and other officers including circle officers and station in-charges from various regions were present during the meeting.
