Cong leader had claimed gross mismanagement & pathetic condition of cows in cattle shelter
Taking cognisance of the news reports about the pathetic condition of the cows in the Kanji House in Dehradun the Uttarakhand Gau Sewa Aayog has directed the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to take immediate steps to restore order in the Kanji House. It has also directed that a detailed action taken report should be submitted by the MCD to it within three days.
In a letter directed to the Dehradun municipal commissioner, the chairman of the commission Rajendra Anthwal has said that the video of the complaint made by a Congress leader went viral on social media in which she claimed to have found that the cows are kept in pathetic condition in the Kanji House. She also claimed that about half a dozen cows were dead while four-five cows were injured and that they were not being cared for. In the letter the chairman of the commission asked the municipal commissioner to undertake an inspection of the Kanji House and take immediate steps to resolve the prevailing mismanagement. He said that proper arrangement of fodder, vaccines and medicines should be made for the cattle in the shelter. Anthwal said that all the employees should be directed to take proper care of the cows.
It is pertinent to mention here that chief spokesperson of State Congress Garima Dasauni visited the Kanji House recently after one woman complained that the authorities are demanding more than Rs 9,000 from her for feeding her cow for two days in the Kanji House. Dasauni said that she was shocked to find the pathetic conditions in which cows were kept at the shelter. She did a Facebook live from the spot and purportedly showed some dead and injured cows. The MCD however rejected her claims and said that there is no mismanagement in the functioning of the Kanji House.
