On the fifth day of Carrot Grass Awareness Week, an awareness programme and weed management training was organised for a specific Scheduled Caste community. It was conducted under the guidance of the project officer S P Singh at Chopra Dangar Jolikot, Nainital.
During the programme, detailed information was provided about the harmful effects of carrot grass on human health, animals and agricultural crops. Villagers and farmers were also informed about the harmful effects of carrot grass and effective control measures.
Farmers were informed that carrot grass not only affects crop productivity but can also adversely affect the health of humans and animals. Therefore, it is essential to identify it in a timely manner, uproot it, and destroy it properly, Singh said.
During the programme, farmers were informed about various methods of biological and chemical control of carrot grass.
