Following the resignation of the deputy medical superintendent, Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital, Dr Nandan Singh Bisht, the process for the new appointment has begun. The principal of the hospital, Dr Geeta Jain said that the appointment of the new deputy medical superintendent will be made within a week. According to sources, Bisht resigned due to personal reasons. However, his resignation has raised many questions and has become a topic of discussion among doctors and staff.

For the past several days, there had been talks of the deputy medical superintendent’s resignation. The situation, however, remained unclear. He was supposed to have submitted his resignation to the principal last Wednesday, which was accepted on Saturday.

The doctors said that the lack of coordination among the hospital administration, college administration and them is negatively impacting the functioning of the city’s premier health facility. A few doctors are supposed to be thinking in terms of resigning themselves.

Besides, things are still uncertain about who will replace Bisht. Commenting on this, Jain said that no decision has yet been made.  “But we hope the name will be announced this week,” she added.

Notably, Bisht has not handed over the charge and he will continue to officiate till the new appointment is made.
