Initially non surgical IPD would become operational. It was converted into a dedicated Covid-19 hospital last year

The biggest hospital of the state in the government sector, the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital would start admitting patients from February 1. Initially non surgical In house Patient Department (IPD) would become operational. The Principal of GDMC, Dr Ahutosh Sayana said that though IPD only in disciplines of medicine, skin, pediatrics and psychiatry would start initially as the hospital as the staff members and the doctors to an extent are still busy in Covid-19 treatment. He said that separate facilities for Covid and Non Covid patients would be provided.  Dr Sayana said that the IPDs would be reviewed on every third day and based on this the decision on opening other IPDs would be taken.  It is worth mentioning here that the GDMC hospital was converted into a dedicated Covid hospital in March 2020 and only Covid-19 patients were admitted and treated here. In view of the reduction in the number of Covid-19 cases the hospital is now moving ahead in the direction of restoring all its services.
