The Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital will be developed as a model facility for the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). To facilitate this development, various aspects of the project were discussed threadbare in a joint meeting between the State Health Authority and the college administration. Emphasis was laid on setting up a dedicated ABDM counter at the hospital and organising awareness activities on campus to enable the beneficiaries to avoid long queues.
At a meeting chaired by GDMC Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Ravindra Singh Bisht, ABDM manager Pragya Paliwal stated that GDMC would be presented as a model ABDM facility in accordance with the directives from the National Health Authority. Patients will register and make payments using the Scan & Share and Scan & Pay options via QR code. Health Professional Registrations (HPR) for staff have been made mandatory too. The meeting also decided to set up a separate counter for QR code registration in the hospital. Extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaigns will be conducted on campus to promote ABDM facilities.
Importantly, health services can be accessed more easily and effectively through a Q&A format. If there are any issues with digital usage, ABDM will provide training to the hospital staff to address these problems.
Bisht further stated that all necessary efforts would be made to ensure that GDMC becomes a model facility. “HPR will be mandatory for every doctor and nurse joining GDMC,” he added.
According to the officials privy to the details of the meeting, pharmacies and laboratories will also be registered with ABDM and will be required to register patients through ABHA. Instructions have been issued by the administration to the officials concerned to facilitate this process.
