At a time when the government is stressing on the need to step up Covid testing and vaccination among other measures, the laboratory of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) was closed for two days on Sunday.
The decision was taken after two doctors and three technicians working in the laboratory were found positive for Covid-19. The medical college administration has decided to extensively sanitise the laboratory due to which there would be no testing of samples here for two days. The sample testing will now resume on Tuesday. The closure of the largest laboratory of the district was felt on Sunday itself as no new sample for Covid 19 was collected in the GDMC hospital.
It is pertinent to mention here that according to the health department data, the results of 25,743 Covid sample tests are awaited in the state. In Dehradun district, the results of 8,024 samples are awaited.
