The Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital has started the process of establishing a dedicated team to enhance the effectiveness of the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) application in the hospital. Stating this, the medical superintendent of the hospital Dr Dhananjay Dobhal informed that the ABHA app initiative has been operational in the hospital for two years now. He explained that patients visiting the hospital are required to register on the app initially and provide information regarding their medical concerns, ailments and personal details.
He further informed that currently, the doctors in the hospital are registering their patients for a specific ailment through an app. The primary objective behind the app’s launch is to alleviate congestion in hospital queues and to streamline the patient registration and billing processes to save time. He said that a unique doctor ID is required to access the app, enabling doctors to review past patient details to aid in current treatment. However, he underscored that patient registrations on the app have not reached the desired level, with only 23,057 patients currently enrolled, which is a low number. “The low number of registrations signifies a higher workload for the doctors, as they are now required to not only attend to patients but also register them on the app. This situation has resulted in the ABHA app’s performance not meeting expectations at the hospital,” Dobhal said.
He further mentioned that the State Health Authority has instructed them to establish a dedicated team responsible for registering visiting patients through the app at the hospital. Consequently, the hospital administration is in the process of forming this team for the app, he said.
