Following the direction of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) the Nainital district police have arrested the general secretary of Madarsa accused of various irregularities. Talking to The Pioneer, member of SCPCR Vinod Kaparwan said that a recent case involving the Madarsa in Nainital district caught the attention of the commission. It has been reported that the Madarsa in question is not registered with the Madarsa board and lacks adequate sanitation measures for the students. In response to this, they previously instructed the Nainital SSP PN Meena to investigate the matter and take prompt action, he added.
Kaparwan further said that following the direction of SCPCR, the Nainital police arrested the general secretary of the Madarsa for not paying attention to the wellbeing of the students. “There are numerous Madarsas in the State that adhere to the prescribed educational standards. In view of this, the commission has written a letter to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, requesting the officials to conduct regular inspections of these schools. Additionally, they must examine and verify the credentials of the director of any Madarsa board prior to granting approval,” Kaparwan added.
It will be recalled that recently the SCPCR has directed the education department as well as police to investigate a Madarsa which has allegedly been operated illegally for about the past 13 years in the Nainital district. The students have also alleged that they were being mistreated by the officials of the institution.
